Exploring
The South Carolina salt marsh is the largest of any other Atlantic Coast state. Beaufort County alone has at least half of the total acreage of salt marsh. Twice daily ebbs and flows of saltwater tides provide a rich and productive estuary for many marine and bird species. Inshore Fishes and Crustaceans, Bottlenose Dolphins, American Oyster Catchers, Egrets, Rosette Spoonbills, Wood Storks, Pelicans, Ospreys, and many more thrive here.
